Jake Dixon stood on the podium in Mugello, but the British rider is searching for success in the Moto2 class and wants to become a Championship challenger.

After another third place finish in Italy Jake Dixon claimed that he could become a Championship challenger if he keeps getting good results.

However, Dixon is yet to secure his first race win in the Grand Prix paddock. After the Italian Grand Prix it appears that Dixon has put this down to his poor race starts.

“In Italy I couldn’t fight for the win because I didn't have a good start." said Dixon "I know that in the race, when I am up against other riders, I can overtake them: I showed that in Italy, where I was able to overtake all the rivals I fought with, but I need a better start if I want to challenge Acosta or Arbolino. We will keep on working.”

Dixon has stood on the podium eight times in Moto2, but all of these visits to the podium have been in third place. With a run of races coming up where Dixon has been strong in the past he will be targeting better starts to his races to try and move up the podium.

The British Moto2 rider is currently sixth in the Moto2 standings. However, he is 56 points behind the Championship leader and will have to up his results to fight for the title this year.

So far this season Dixon's consistency problem seems to have been solved as he has finished sixth twice, fifth once and third twice. The 27-year-old has only failed to finish one race after he crashed on the warm up lap in America.
