Jake Gagne is celebrating after securing a third straight title in the MotoAmerica Superbike Championship.
In what has been a dominant turn by the Fresh ‘N’ Lean Attack Performance Yamaha rider this season, Gagne’s run of successive wins and podiums enabled him to open up an insurmountable advantage in the overall standings with two rounds of the season remaining.
While not as emphatic a run to the title as his first championship glory in 2021, his latest success has proven less intense than in 2022 when Gagne tussled it out with former MotoGP rider Danilo Petrucci for overall honours.
Placing him fourth on the all-time ranking for MotoAmerica Superbike titles, Gagne - who contested a season of WorldSBK with Honda in 2018 - lavished praise on his Attack Performance Yamaha team.

“It was a little unexpected and a little hard to put into words. Hats off to the whole team, my crew. It’s been a challenging year, but we’ve learned a lot – me as a rider and together as a team.
“I’ve just got an amazing group of people around me, and I get to ride this amazing R1. It feels so good to get my third title, and it’s going to feel good going into these next few rounds battling with these guys and not having to worry about the championship.
“It’s been different from the last couple of years. We weren’t always the fastest guy out there, but we were pretty consistent. Even if we weren’t able to win the race, we brought it home and got a lot of podiums.”
With Petrucci switching to WorldSBK this season, Gagne’s stiffest opponents in 2023 came from Josh Herrin, former BSB rider PJ Jacobsen and five-time MotoAmerica Superbike Champion Cameron Beaubier, making a return to the series following his stint in Moto2.
“It’s amazing when the competition is so stacked. This field is getting stronger every year, and it’s going to be another battle next year, but we’ve still got some more races to go.”
With a third MotoAmerica Superbike title to his name, Gagne is held in high regard among Yamaha Racing top brass and has been linked with a potential return to WorldSBK with the manufacturer.
He contested a wild-card round with Attack Performance at Portimao in 2022, landing a best finish of 15th and with it a single point.
