After a strong start to the 2025 Moto3 World Championship, Matteo Bertelle will miss the Qatar Grand Prix.
The LEVELUP - MTA Team has announced that Matteo Bertelle will miss the Qatar Grand Prix due to injury.
Bertelle has been a consistent front runner in the opening three races of the 2025 season in Thailand, Argentina and America.
The Italian stood on his first Grand Prix podium at the Grand Prix of the Americas at the Circuit of the Americas.
The 21-year-old claimed his first podium with a third-place finish after being beaten by Jose Antonio Rueda and Joel Kelso.
Bertelle currently sits in fourth place in the 2025 Moto3 World Championship. He is level on points with Raul Fernandez, who is in third place, and is 26 points behind the Championship leader, Rueda.
"On Sunday, 06/04/2025, our rider #18 Matteo Bertelle was involved in an accident that resulted in a fracture of the right tibia and the left humerus," a statement from the MTA team said.
"He is currently still hospitalised for further examination by the medical team.
"We are confident that he will recover soon and look forward to seeing him back on track.
"We confirm that he will not be present at the Qatar GP."
Throughout his career in the Grand Prix paddock, Bertelle has not had great results at the Lusail International Circuit.
In 2022, he finished 17th, before claiming his best result in Qatar of seventh place in 2023. However, last season Bertelle was not able to continue his momentum as he failed to finish the Grand Prix.
