'Second place was good, but not perfect' - Nicolo Bulega settled for second in Race Two

Gold & Goose

Nicolo Bulega had to settle for second at Ducati's home circuit as Toprak Razgatlioglu won all three races at Misano.

There were high expectations for Nicolo Bulega ahead of the Emilia-Romagna World Superbike Round. He had re-signed with the Aruba.it Racing - Ducati squad, and his clear ambitions were to win at Ducati's home circuit.

However, the Italian was unable to reach the top step of the rostrum as he had to finish as second best to Toprak Razgatlioglu.

Bulega finished second in Race One and Race Two but failed to finish the Superpole Race after being taken out at the first corner.

"It was not one of my best weekends in Superbikes," Bulega told TNT Sports after the final race of the weekend.

"But I also had some unlucky moments. Toprak [Razgatlioglu] at this track and this weekend was very, very strong. So, congratulations to him and also to BMW.

"In the end, it is another second place, once I had overtaken the riders in front of me, Toprak already had a big gap. So it made no sense to risk crashing when trying to catch him because he was very strong.

"My pace was not fast enough to try to recover. So, I decided that second place was good, not perfect, but it was good.

"I am looking forward to the next race."

Bulega was seen using a green Dainese boot in the final race of the weekend, it was theorised that he had run out of his usual red ones.

However, he revealed that he wanted to run the tricolour on his boot for the final race of the weekend.

"I asked Dainese if we could do the Italian flag," he said.

"I have my special helmet with the Italian flag, so I also wanted to do it with my boots. I only used it for Race Two, but it gave me some more luck, so maybe next year I will use it from Friday morning."
