After winning the 2022 Suzuka 8 Hours, Iker Lecuona could enter the 2025 event with the factory Honda Team HRC.

Across the last three seasons, Honda Team HRC has claimed victory at the iconic Suzuka 8 Hours event, with MotoGP and World Superbike riders in their factory line-up.

In 2022, Iker Lecuona was in the race-winning line-up, before Xavi Vierge won the event in 2023, and then Johann Zarco took victory in 2024.

For this year's 46th anniversary of the Suzuka 8 Hours, Honda Team HRC have only revealed two of their three riders for the factory team.

So far, the LCR Honda Castrol MotoGP rider, Johann Zarco, has been announced as well as well as six-time Suzuka 8 Hours race winner Takumi Takahashi.

It seems likely that Honda HRC Castrol MotoGP rider, Luca Marini, was supposed to ride for the factory HRC squad as he had been testing at Suzuka when he suffered several injuries.

However, all signs now point toward Team HRC World Superbike rider, Iker Lecuona, making his return to the historic event this August.

At the Emilia-Romagna World Superbike Round, Lecuona had told the media: "Next week I'll be participating in the official test for the Suzuka 8 Hours. I'm really looking forward to it and thank Honda for this opportunity."

The 25-year-old is the top Honda rider in the World Superbike Championship as he sits eighth in the standings. Lecuona has finished inside the top ten on 11 occasions in the 15 races that he has participated in this season.

Lecuona's two-day test at the Suzuka Circuit started on Wednesday, the 18th of June, and the final day of the test was on Thursday, the 19th of June.
