'I have Superbike offers' - Aron Canet confirms he has the option to move to World Superbikes

Gold & Goose

Could Aron Canet become the next Grand Prix rider to make the move across to the World Superbike Championship?

Current Moto2 Championship challenger, Aron Canet, has confirmed that if no MotoGP interest arises, he has the chance to switch to World Superbikes.

The Spanish rider has been at the front of the Moto3 and Moto2 Championships since 2016, and has racked up 11 Grand Prix victories as well as 39 further podiums across the lightweight and intermediate classes.

However, despite challenges for the Moto2 Championship across the last five years, no MotoGP interest has appeared. This has led the 25-year-old to start pondering a move to the World Superbike Championship for 2026.

"Every rider's goal is to move to MotoGP," Canet told Speedweek.com.

"I've achieved many good results, but I've never received an offer. Perhaps the time has come to move to the Superbike World Championship or to ride in Moto2 for another two or three years to win the title."

Canet has revealed that he does have offers to switch to the production-based Championship next season. He is also confident that he will be a title contender on a Superbike if he makes the switch across the Championships.

"I have two opinions," he explained.

"I'll go to Superbikes, ride there for another ten or twelve years, fight for the title every year, and become world champion, or I'll stay in Moto2 for another three or four years and become the rider with the most titles.

"It's true that I have Superbike offers," he confirmed.

"I enjoy Moto2; in terms of podium finishes, I'm the second-best rider in the history of this class. So it's difficult for me to make a decision. I'm second in the championship, almost at the top, so it's difficult to say goodbye. We'll see. It doesn't just depend on what I want."
