Reports suggest that Michael van der Mark and BMW will part ways at the end of the 2025 World Superbike season.
After losing Toprak Razgatlioglu for the 2026 World Superbike Championship, there was a chance that Michael van der Mark would remain with the ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team.
The German manufacturer has already signed Danilo Petrucci to replace Razgatlioglu, and failed to lure Aron Canet away from the Moto2 World Championship.
However, according to Speedweek.com, van der Mark has now been informed that he will not be retained by BMW for a sixth season.
"This year is a bit strange. Michael is the same rider who made a strong comeback from injuries," van der Mark's manager, Laurens Klein-Koerkamp, told Speedweek.com.
"When he was fully fit in the middle of last year, he came back strong in WSBK, with a win, podium finishes, and a move up to sixth place in the World Championship.
"He was fast during the winter test on the 2024 bike. When he switched to the 2025 race bike, the momentum disappeared, and everything became difficult.
"But at the test in Suzuka on a different bike, he was immediately fast. In the race in Suzuka, he was very fast, in some stints as fast as or faster than Jack Miller. He's still the same rider with the same talent and speed."
There are limited options left for the six-time World Superbike race winner, but there are still factory seats available at Honda and Yamaha.
The 32-year-old and his manager are in discussions for the 2026 season, but are still in the early stages of negotiations.
Klein-Koerkamp added: "There are still some opportunities in the WorldSBK paddock, but at the moment we're looking elsewhere and are in discussions about it. It's too early to go into details."
