Marcel Schroetter discusses his BMW World Superbike Test

Gold & Goose

BMW gave Marcel Schroetter the chance to test the factory M1000RR at MotorLand Aragon last week.

Last week, Marcel Schroetter was able to test with the ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team at MotorLand Aragon.

This was the first time the German rider, who is currently competing in World Supersport on a Ducati, was able to experience a full World Superbike specification machine.

Schroetter was only able to test the factory BMW M1000RR for half a day at the Spanish circuit, but got the opportunity due to BMW's Test Riders preparing for the final round of the World Endurance Championship.

"I got to know Chris Gonschor better this year, and we've chatted now and then," said Schroetter in an interview with Speedweek.com.

"There aren't that many Germans in motorsport, so we have nice conversations. And of course, my dream would be to move to the Superbike World Championship—who hasn't?

"But there are other opportunities for the future at BMW. That's one of the reasons why I'm looking around and talking to them.

"Many people know I'm capable of more than I'm currently showing; it's normal that I can't recommend myself for a factory position. But BMW thought it would be interesting to see me on the bike. Because of the endurance test, they were short on riders, and Chris Gonschor asked me.

"For me, it was a chance to show off my skills on the bigger bike. Whether anything will come of it, I can't say.

"Maybe it will increase my chances for something in the future, maybe not. For me, it was the first time I rode a full-size superbike. The endurance bike is close, but the brakes and engine power aren't the same."

When asked whether he could secure the second BMW ride for the 2026 World Superbike season, Schroetter played down his chances.

"We haven't discussed that position," he stated.

"I can't say whether I might be number 5 on the list. For me, it's about keeping my options open. It's clear that the Endurance World Championship will also be an option. I'm looking at everything; I have to find something for next year."
