'It was a nice lap, but not perfect...' - Nicolo Bulega reacts to his Aragon Pole Position

Gold & Goose

Nicolo Bulega secured Pole Position at MotorLand Aragon, but will need to beat Toprak Razgatlioglu to stay in the title fight.

For the last three World Superbike Rounds, Nicolo Bulega has had to watch Toprak Razgatlioglu claim Pole Position at Donington Park, Balaton Park, and Magny-Cours.

However, for the first time since Misano in June, Bulega was able to top the timesheets in the all-important Superpole session and clinched his fourth Pole Position of the season.

Despite setting a new World Superbike Lap Record around the MotorLand Aragon circuit, the Italian was still critical of his Pole Position lap, and believes he could have done better.

"It was a nice lap, but if I am honest it was not perfect," Bulega told TNT Sports after the Superpole session.

"Some turns were not the best, and I think on my second lap, Sector Two was a little bit better. But I am very happy, we started well this weekend, the feeling is 95% so that is quite good, and we will see during the race."

Bulega will have Razgatlioglu alongside him on the grid as the reigning Champion qualified in second place. It will be crucial for the Ducati rider to beat the BMW rider to try and close the gap to him in the World Superbike Championship.

However, Bulega did not seem confident that he would be able to beat Razgatlioglu despite his Pole Position.

"Normally, in the races Toprak [Razgatlioglu] is very, very strong," he explained.

"But I feel good here in Aragon, so, I will try to stay with him and to battle with him."
