During his four years in the World Superbike paddock, Vierge has been able to battle with Yamaha riders and believes that his riding style will suit the Yamaha R1.

"I am super happy to join that project, I am so excited and looking forward to working together," Vierge told WorldSBK.com.

"As always, I will give my best on and off the track to fight for our goals. They have been making a very strong year, I have been trying to battle with them, and I think it will be a bike that will suit my riding style."

Vierge went on to discuss what he believes he can learn from his future teammate, Andrea Locatelli, and how Jonathan Rea played a part in his move to Yamaha.

"First thing will be to jump on the bike and understand the bike," he explained.

"I will need to understand how the team works, and enjoy this process. Of course, our goal is to be competitive, and Andrea Locatelli will be my teammate, and he his having a very strong year.

"So, I will try to learn as much as possible from him, and try to be as close as possible. I think together we will be able to do a very good job.

"As well, I want to say thank you so much to Jonathan Rea. Because I know he has had very good words about me, that helped Yamaha in their decision. It is a big honour for me to know that."
