Jonathan Rea returned to the top five for the first time since Donington Park in Race Two at MotorLand Aragon.
After a disappointing 13th-place finish in Race One at MotorLand Aragon, Jonathan Rea was able to bounce back on Sunday.
The six-time World Superbike Champion was able to secure an eighth-place finish in the Superpole Race, which matched his result from Qualifying on Saturday morning.
In Race Two, Rea got off to a lightning start and was inside the top four on the opening lap. The British rider was able to put together a good race and crossed the line in fifth place.
"I am really satisfied with today's work," Rea told WorldSBK.com after a promising weekend.
"I want to thank all my crew, because without testing here last month, it was hard to come here with the information and a package together. We arrived with the bike from Magny-Cours and finished with quite a different bike today. It was the best version of the bike that I have ridden.
"Track position was everything here at Aragon. I was able to get a top nine in the Superpole Race; I was eighth. So, that gave me a good chance to at least get away with the group, but I found myself in fourth on the first lap [in Race Two].
"I made such good track position, and put myself in the right place, and tried to keep in a good rhythm. When Alvaro [Bautista] came passed, it was really difficult to stay with him. I was strong in parts of the track, but he was so much stronger in the last sector.
"I was doing everything I could to come out of Turn 15 and stay in his slipstream, to hopefully go away from the group, but I just kept my rhythm.
"When Andea [Iannone] was coming, I felt like a vulnerable fish with a shark behind me. Eventually, he caught me and all I could do was wait for a mistake, but he had more pace than me, and he caught me.
"But fifth place is something that we can be really happy with as a team, of course, it is not quite where we want to be, we are quite a few seconds off the race win. But it is the best version of ourselves that we have shown in a while. So, it is nice to go into the last two races with a good feeling."
