After witnessing their rivals make steps throughout 2025, Ducati admit they must make steps ahead of the 2026 season.

Despite winning the 2025 MotoGP World Championship for the fourth year in a row, Ducati know it must improve its machine for the 2026 season.

After winning the 2022, 2023, and 2024 MotoGP titles, Ducati played it safe for the 2025 season when it came to bike development. As Gigi Dall'Igna admitted, he made the decision to keep the 2025 Ducati very similar to the 2024 machine.

The Italian also revealed that he is not happy with the current Ducati, despite the success they had with Marc Marquez throughout the season.

"We said at the beginning of the year that we did not want to take any risks with the development of the bike," Dall'Igna told MotoGP.com.

"Honestly speaking, the 24 [Ducati] and the 25 [Ducati] are more or less the same bike. The 25 bike, you can add something, but in the end, you can come back to the 24 easily.

"For sure, I am not happy about the 25 bike. Because it has not been a real evolution, but I have known this since the beginning, and it was my choice."

As the season has progressed, Ducati has watched Aprilia, KTM, and Honda come to play at the front of the field.

Dall'Igna is aware that the other manufacturers have made steps throughout the 2025 season and knows that Ducati must improve ahead of the 2026 MotoGP season.

"All the other manufacturers are improving quite a lot," he explained.

"All of them are making big steps forward, but this is life. We have to fight with them; this is the reality. So, we have to introduce something new to improve our bike."
