Stefano Manzi will get to test the Yamaha R1 for a third time later this month at Jerez ahead of his rookie World Superbike season.
The 2025 World Supersport Champion, Stefano Manzi, will become a full-time World Superbike rider with the GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team.
At the post-season Jerez Test, Manzi completed 95 laps around the Spanish circuit in one day of testing on his new Yamaha R1, but believes he could have done more if the weather had not halted play in the morning.
"It was a good test, we were unlucky with the weather in the morning as there was a bit of rain in Jerez," Manzi told WorldSBK.com at EICMA.
"But in the end, we were able to spin 95 laps during the day, and I was quite confident on the bike. I cannot wait for the next test."
During Manzi's first test as a full-time World Superbike rider, he revealed that he did not change the bike setup and just wanted to spend time on his new R1.
"Now, I am only focused on my work and what to do in the tests," he stated.
"So, now I am thinking about it, but we will see next year what will be. In the first test, the focus was to spin laps, so we did not touch the bike a lot.
"But at the end of the day, the lap time was not bad, but that was not the goal. At the next one, I think we will work more with the team, do some setting work, and fix the bike more by myself."
Ahead of the next test, Manzi is aiming to spend more time on track around other riders to see how his Superbike behaves in a group of other riders.
"In the test, you ride alone, but I want to see how it is to ride in a group," he explained.
"I think with more power, more speed on the straights, more slipstream when you brake, when you do something in the group, it will be more challenging. But we will see when I can do this, because in the test, you only ride alone."
