Albert Arenas will switch to the World Supersport Championship next season with the AS Racing Team on a Yamaha R9.
Yamaha Motor Europe has confirmed that Andrea Quadranti's AS Racing team will run two Yamaha R9s for the 2026 World Supersport Championship.
The team will field the 2020 Moto3 World Champion, Albert Arenas, on one of their machines as he will switch from the Grand Prix paddock to the World Superbike paddock in 2026.
Alongside Arenas will be the 2024 World Supersport 300 Champion, Aldi Satya Mahendra, who will get a second season in the World Supersport Championship on the Yamaha R9.
"I am very happy to join Yamaha with the new AS Racing team in World Supersport," Arenas said.
"It’s a new challenge and championship for me, and it’s a big opportunity for me to build my racing career and return to winning ways. I arrive with a lot of motivation and the mentality of wanting to keep growing as a rider.
"My objective is clear; to be as competitive as possible and ride to the best of my ability. To be part of an official structure with the support of Yamaha is something that motivates me and I trust a lot in the potential of the project and I want to thank Yamaha, and the team, for the trust and confidence in me. It will be an exciting new journey and I’m very excited."
Mahendra added: "First of all, I’d like to thank everyone for trusting me to return to racing next year after my injury. I learned a lot in 2025 and I will look to make the most of that next season, working as hard as I can to improve on last year. To join a new team is also exciting and I am looking forward to getting started with winter testing!"
