Dominique Aegerter is hopeful he will return to his 2022 form when he returns to World Supersport next year.
After three years in the World Superbike Championship, Dominique Aegerter will return to World Supersport for the 2026 season.
The Swiss rider had a promising rookie season in World Superbikes, but struggled with injury woes during the 2024 and 2025 seasons on the Yamaha R1.
Next season, the two-time World Supersport Champion will return to the Supersport Championship with the Kawasaki WorldSSP Team.
"I had a good option to go to the Puccetti Team, and to go back to 600s is not a big step backwards, but will hopefully take my career forward," Aegeter explained to WorldSBK.com at EICMA.
"In the Superbike category, in the last two seasons, my results have not been the best, and my best option was to go back to Supersport. I have many great memories there.
"So, I am very happy to join the Kawasaki Puccetti Team."
During his time in the World Superbike paddock, Aegerter has only competed for Yamaha in the Supersport and Superbike Championship. However, next season will be his first year not in the blue or with Yamaha, as he will ride the new Kawasaki ZX-6R.
"For me it is a new colour, and a new team, I met them all at Jerez, and now at EICMA," he said.
"It is a wonderful team, I met the mechanics, my crew chief, and the team boss. I already knew them all from my five years in the Superbike paddock.
"At the end of November, we will have our first test, and I will meet the whole crew, and also my new bike."
The 35-year-old is hopeful he will return to his 2022 World Supersport form next season after his two podium-less seasons in 2024 and 2025.
"We will see, my two seasons in World Supersport I won two titles, and had many great victories," he stated.
"We will see how the test goes, our goal is for sure to fight at the front. The team and me will give everything to achieve these results."
