Augusto Fernandez will wildcard with Yamaha's V4 engine for the third time this season at the Valencian Grand Prix.

For the third time in the 2025 MotoGP World Championship, Augusto Fernandez will wildcard with Yamaha Factory Racing with a V4 engine.

The Spaniard first debuted Yamaha's V4 engine at a Grand Prix in September at the San Marino Grand Prix, before making a second appearance in October at the Malaysian Grand Prix.

Fernandez has had a lot of work to do during his first year as Yamaha's Test Rider, as the Japanese manufacturer plans to switch to a V4 engine for the 2026 season.

During his previous two wildcards with the V4 engine in his Yamaha M1, Fernandez scored points once as he finished 14th in the San Marino Grand Prix. However, in Malaysia, he was out of the points as he finished in 18th place.

This weekend, Fernandez will return to the Circuit Ricardo Tormo, the same venue where he won his Moto2 World Championship in 2022. The Valencian Grand Prix will be important for Yamaha as it will be their last chance to decide on a direction for 2026.

"I'm happy to be back racing again, and especially to be back racing in Valencia," Fernandez said ahead of the 2025 season finale.

"I'm looking forward to continue improving the V4-powered prototype and collecting further data. It will be an important weekend to decide the direction to work in during this winter and next year. I can't wait to get started!"
