"It is the best day of my life" - Celestino Vietti describes his first laps on a MotoGP bike

Gold & Goose

Celestino Vietti was able to complete his first laps on the Ducati Desmosedici at the Valencia MotoGP Test.

After completing the 2025 Moto2 World Championship, Celestino Vietti was expecting to return to Italy for the start of his winter break.

However, after Franco Morbidelli injured his left wrist on the starting grid at the Valencia Grand Prix, a spot opened up in the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team for the Valencia Test on Tuesday.

After an agreement between VR46, Ducati, and SpeedRS, Vietti was able to test the Ducati MotoGP bike at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo.

"For sure, it is the best day of my life," Vietti told MotoGP.com after the Valencia Test.

"I have to say thanks to VR46, Ducati, and my team in VR46, SpeedRS, because they gave me the opportunity to ride the best bike in the world.

"I really appreciate it, I enjoyed every lap that I did, and I hope in the future I can ride it more."

When comparing the Ducati Desmosedici to the Moto2 machine he usually rides, Vietti was most surprised by the carbon brakes on a MotoGP bike.

"The speed that it reaches is unbelievable, but the most change is how fast you stop the bike," he explained.

"The braking point is close to a MotoGP bike, but you arrive a lot faster, it is really impressive. I need more laps to understand it more."

During the test, VR46 Team Manager Pablo Nieto revealed that Vietti was only allowed to complete 15 laps, but the Italian did not see his pit board and ended up doing 24 laps.

"Sometimes I did not see it because I have to press the button for the device," he stated.

"I was fully focused on what I had to do, and not on the board. But like I said, I enjoyed every lap, every corner, and it is something I will not forget."
