AIR Racing's Tom Young reviews his season at Thruxton, the fourth round of the Metzeler National Superstock 600 Championship in which he has scored at every round since debuting with the team.
Young has been racing since 2004 at the age of 13, as he progressed up through the club championships to British level he grabbed the New Era CB500 Superclub Championship title and has been part of many Superstock battles.
After being approached by Andy Rothery, team manager of Air Racing who he has known for years, Young is now experiencing one of his best setup environments ever in the paddock and switches from a Yamaha to a Kawasaki.
Reviewing the season so far, he said: 'It's going alright, riding the ZX-R has been going alright, pre-season was really good. I had a lot of problems with the front forks, had three massive crashes, snapped the bike at Croft in half when we went testing there. I am just rebuilding my confidence back up.'
'The postive from the season is I have scored in every points and from where I've started from I've always gone forward. We went testing last week at MRO and I won the race, it's coming back together really, my confidence is coming back, it's a really good deal here, it's working out better and going from strength to strength really. '
'The bike is a lot different regarding how it's setup, you feel like you are more sat in it as opposed to the R6 you are sat on top of it. Being a lit bit small, it helps a lot to turn it, it has lot more torque at times, it's a bit more nimble so takes a bit to setup really and we are running different suspension. The bike is mega, to me I just need to start pushing now and when I start pushing it, the good, I feel will come with it. That's how I think these suspensions are made, to be pushed hard.'
Young is aiming for the top three in the championship and with his confidence being back he is still aiming for top three in the championship.
