English/Repli-Cast Racing's Robert English leaves the Irish championship behind to join the Sunoco British 125GP championship for what he says is a learning year as he talks to www.bikesportnews.com.

The Bangor rider was one of the front runners on the Irish scene not only being a regular front runner but picking up a couple of championships along the way including the Kildare and Irish National 125GP championships. To progress his career, like most, he has introduced himself to the British scene in which he already has had two top ten finishes, at Oulton Park he was running fourth before a collision that finished his race.

Talking about his season so far, he said: 'Two rounds had two top tens, but in the 125cc you are up against children (he laughed). You are having to work so hard and it can get disheartening when you look at the speed traps. You're one of the lowest just because they are so much smaller and lighter than me. It is a learning year, I am just learning the tracks before looking at the 600cc next year.'

Elaborating on his plan to move to another category, he added: 'I am not going to get any smaller so its time to just move on and the 125ccs are dying out. I thought it would be better learning on the 125cc so I am not learning the new tracks and new bike. Overall I would like to finish top ten in the championship but being a racer I would like to be on the podium.'
