North Wales is the next destination for round three of Thundersport GB’s Championship in 2011 as the series visits Anglesey.
In the Aprilia Superteen Championship, Colchester’s Tom Oliver heads a list of hungry teenagers by 37 points after an entertaining round at Donington Park but he’ll know that he has to remain consistent this weekend if he’s to leave with a similar advantage, especially with the likes of Ben Luxton, Joe Francis, Harry Coomber and Alistair Dayus breathing down his neck.
After joining the Superteens at the World Superbike Support round last month at Donington, the all new Aprilia RRV450 Challenge enters its second round of the series in Wales with both James Folkard and Connor Tagg looking to gain an advantage after leaving the opening round joint on points and the Thundersport GP3 class return to action this weekend after missing out on Donington.
In the Morello Services GP1 class, defending champion Phil Crowe limps into round three with a few injuries as he looks to fend off the likes of Ian Mackman who also happens to be leading the Superstock Cup.
They lead a talented group of riders including Ingram, Jackson, Heaton, 2009 Champion Peter Baker and of course Reveley and Adam, who will resume their battles for Supertwins glory.
The Alto-Digital Thundersport GP2 class is never short of a good fight for the win and the experienced Ricardo Ballerini will be eager to extend his advantage in the Championship as he sits ahead of hungry teenagers Connor Tagg and Josh Daley.
To increase the average age of the class though, Ballerini will be looking to Minitwin Cup leader Ian Popplewell for some help as the two Kawasaki riders look to upset the youngsters.
After a promising start to his British Supersport career, will Sam Hornsey return to Anglesey to defend his lead in the Motorbike Accident Law Formula 600 Championship this weekend? Whatever happens, Chris Mort has to be seen as a potential star for this one at a circuit he loves but keep an eye on McNeill and Ben Field too.
The pick of all the Championships so far this season is the BSN.com Superstock 600 class. All six races have been fights to the line so far in 2011 and it really is anyone’s guess as to who will come out victorious at Anglesey.
Scotsman Paul Wishart leads a talented trio of riders that includes Tom Meehan, Adam Robinson and Nick Anderson, will it be the same four doing battle again? Or will we see a new star adding their name to the list?
Rumour has it that the most fun to be had is in the Bridgestone Thundersport 500 class....... having said that, the pace at the front certainly doesn’t seem friendly. Andy Lawson and Steve Tomes have so far blitzed the field this season and whilst Colin McCabe and Darryl Harrison have had their say in the past, they now need to up their game if they are to keep themselves in the fight for the title this season.
As for the LMB Streetfighters, Keith Smith leads category ‘A’ and Barry Utting heads the list of ‘B’ riders as the class screams out for some more competition. In the ‘C’ class though for Supermoto machines, it couldn’t be closer! Father and Son team, Tony and Marc Hughes will continue to fight to become the best in the family, but neither can count out Brad Davey or Duncan McMillan.
The news of the Euro F600 Sidecar Championship is that leader Simon Neary will be without his passenger for a few months after Dipash Chauhan was involved in an accident at Cadwell Park last week, breaking his left femur.
Neary will still be out on the Nick Crowe Racing outfit but with a new passenger and it remains to be seen whether it could potentially upset his pursuit of the title that looks to have his name etched on it already.
