Althea Ducati's Carlos Checa has increased his World Superbike Championship lead at Misano this afternoon, doing the double by winning the second race that was re-started after Marco Melandri and Leon Camier crashed at turn one in separate incidents.
Checa added to his race one win from this morning when he pressured Alitalia Aprilia's Max Biaggi into running off track halfway through the restarted 14-lapper, never looking back and crossing the line more than two seconds ahead of his title rival.
BMW's Leon Haslam was looking good for the final podium spot but lost pace in the final laps, giving best to the Pata Aprilia of Noriyuki Haga and BMW Italia's Ayrton Badovini with the the Samurai of Slide taking his first podium of the season in the drag to the line.
Haslam eventually took fifth which wasn't a bad result considering the massive highside he experienced in the first race with Michel Fabrizio in sixth, Sylvain Guintoli seventh, Ruben Xaus eighth, Joan Lascorz ninth and Chris Vermeulen rounded out the top ten.
Yamaha's Eugene Laverty picked himself off the floor to finish in 13th while Tom Sykes did the same for 14th. He was the final finisher as neither Camier or Melandri were able to make the re-start.
