Entries for this year’s Aprilia Superteen series have smashed all previous records with 51 younsters signing up so far - seven more than the previous best of 44 in 2005.
The championship, which is being backed by Lloyd Lifestyle and Dunlop, runs inside the brand new ThundersportGB umbrella which is also seeing a huge interest in is classes - altough series organiser Dabe Stewart says they can’t lay their hands on enough sets of wheels for the Moto450 championship!
Talking about the Superteen entries, Stewart said: "Despite the widely-held view that the numbers of youth riders was dropping across the board, I felt that there were always going to be plenty of riders interested in the series if it offered them the right package. The support of J&S and Nitro has been fantastic and has helped us enormously in making the series attractive again.
"John at Lloyd Lifestyle is someone who not only understands how important it is to have a decent platform for young talent, but is prepared to back it with hard cash. Ian [Newton] and the rest of the team at Aprilia are right to be proud of the track record of this championship, with both the current MotoGP champion and the current WSB champion tracing their racing roots back to this series, even the Spanish and Italians must envy such success."
