Injured Aussie Troy Bayliss ran away with the first world superbike race at Assen this this morning, crossing the line a full two seconds ahead of a great battle between Carlos Checa and Max Neukirchner, who have obviously made up since their coming together at the last round.
Honda-mounted Checa got past the German with three laps to go and managed to stay ahead until the chequered flag but it was a very close run thing. Yukio Kagayama and Troy Corser took the next two places respectively.
Ruben Xaus and Noriyuki Haga came together on lap one, after Haga ran wide into a turn and lost the front. collected the Spainiard as he fell. Xaus clawed his way back to 16th.
Bayliss now leads the championship by 60 points.
