Aussie Cameron Donald has made it two wins from two races at this year’s TT so far, taking a win in this morning’s Superstock race to complement his Superbike win on Saturday. He crossed the line a full 15 seconds in front John McGuinness with Guy Martin in third.
Donald, who brokehis back in a crash here two years ago, only took half a lap to snatch the lead from McGuinness and he pushed on hard to increase the lead in every sector. He had a lead of almost 18 seconds when he came across the line at the end of lap three but then throttled back for the last lap, allowing McGuinness to come back at him.
Donald said: "I can’t believe it, it all worked so well, an absolute dream. The pitstop was faultless but it was a bit hairy riding through the fog on tghe first lap. But I ride through mit and fog a lot in the hills at home, so it wasn’t too bad."
Martin was first away on the roads but McGuinness had already overhauled him on time at Glen Helen. It took Donald until the bungalow to take first away from the Morecambe missile. Donald then never looked back and it was down to McGuinness, Martin and Ryan Farquhar to scrap for the podium places.
McGuinness lost six seconds to Donald in the first round of pit-stops, which sealed his second place.
Eventually Martin managed to fend off Farquhar, who led Manxman Conor Cummins for fourth. Adrian Archibald, Ian Lougher, Steve Plater, Carl Rennie and Dan Stewat rounded out the top 10.
Kiwi Bruce Anstey retired on lap two, apparently feeling ill.
McGuinness dedicated his second place to Pauline Jefferies, who died on Friday night.
