Britain's Craig Jones dominated the two-day official World Supersport test at Vallelunga in Italy, taking the top spot on the time sheets at the end of each day to underline his intentions to score a maiden race win soon on the Parkalgar Honda.
With air temperature at 38 degrees and in bright sunshine, Brit Jones used his raw talent and the sheer performance of the Parkalgar Honda CBR600RR to best effect at a circuit he likes. His team mate, Portuguese racer Miguel Praia, also stepped up during the test at the 4.11km circuit, finishing in 14th despite a foot injury carried over from the last race two weeks ago.
“It is nice to be fastest both days at a test. Perhaps more importantly, we found that our race pace is better than everyone else here and that is good," said Jones. "We tried a few things and found a good setting with the Ohlins forks that gave me plenty of positive feedback, so it’s be a successful test all round.
“I like Vallelunga’s technical and physical demands on a rider. After finishing second here last year I want to go one better when we return in September, but there is a lot of racing before then and Brno in the Czech Republic is next and another opportunity to score my maiden victory. We are knocking on the door and it will open.”
