Tributes to the life and memory of World Supersport racer Craig Jones, who died yesterday morning after a crash at Brands Hatch on Sunday, have been pouring in to the www.bikesportnews.com inbox and they have been led by four-times World Superbike Champion Carl Fogarty.
“The news has really flattened me. He was a really nice lad and was well-liked by everyone. It’s such a sad loss for his family and racing," said Fogarty.

"Craig was one of a crop of good young riders who were the future of British racing and I took a chance on him to ride for our team in 2006 because I thought he was the pick of the bunch. I saw a lot of my determination in him and gave him the chance to learn the world circuits the hard way, hoping it would stand him in good stead in the future."
World Superbike series boss Paolo Flammini added: "We are all deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Craig Jones following the injuries he received in his accident during the Supersport race," he said. "Despite his young age, Craig had been part of the World Superbike and Supersport scene for the past five years and he will be deeply missed by everyone in the paddock.

"He was having a great season with the Parkalgar Team and his race at Brands Hatch was another demonstration of his great talent. We at FGSport would like to convey our thoughts and sincerest condolences to his family and friends."
Jonathan Palmer, boss of Motorsport Vision which owns Brands Hatch, said: "I am so desperately sad that Craig died from the injuries he sustained at Brands Hatch yesterday. He was a really super young guy and only on the Saturday evening was I chatting to him in the paddock with him telling me about his WSB ambitions for 2009. Craig was so determined and professional, would always say hello and enthusiastically keep me in touch with his progress."

"Britain has lost a wonderful rider whom I admired enormously and had every chance of being a future World champion. It is fitting that the abiding memory so many of us will have of Craig was him riding brilliantly, battling for the lead of an incredible race, in front of his home crowd. It seems barely believable that such a freak accident claimed his life and I extend my deepest sympathies to his family and friends."
