Former 250GP star Eugene Laverty looks set to sign for the Parkalgar Honda squad this weekend after being seen in and around the team’s garage at Portimao.
Laverty, who quit his Blusens Aprilia 250cc ride last month, has been in talks with various World Supersport teams after his performances at Donington Park and Vallelunga, where he stood on the podium.
Neither Parkalgar nor Laverty are prepared to comment but a team insider says the deal should be done by Monday at the latest. There is no firm news yet on a second rider but American Josh Hayes must be in the frame after his performance so far this weekend. However, Miguel Praia remains the favourite.
