TT | HIGH-PROFILE DIRECTOR PENS SCRIPT FOR TT MOVIE

A high-profile American film director is to base a new production on the Isle of Man TT Races and has already finished the script.

Ben Younger, who directed Meryl Streep and Uma Thurman in Prime, and Ben Affleck and Vin Diesel in Boiler Room, is a former racer and track day addict.

“I chose The Isle of Man for the setting of the film because of its intensity. I love MotoGP and while it may be the highest present form of racing, nothing can touch the stakes involved in the TT," said Younger.

"If you screw up there you lose your life. Those are really compelling themes for a film. Plus, the riders aren’t the Rossis of the world, they’re roofers and plumbers. They’re regular guys who have an extremely irregular side to their lives. It’s the last, great, romantic race on earth. It’s a very cinematic event.

“There is something attractive about that danger factor. I’ve been to The Isle a few times and I’ve probably done about 40 laps of the course. I put a hole in my jeans there, I didn’t know I was going that fast. But don’t get me wrong, I have absolutely no plans to race there. My contribution will be this film.”
