ThundersportGB’s new 500 class has won backing from three former GP riders and only weeks after announcing the new format, entries are flooding in.
Niall Mackenzie and Ron and Leon Haslam have supported the class, saying it is a great way to start racing on a budget and that it helps riders step up to 125GP bikes or four-strokes.
Three-times British Superbike Champion and ex-500GP star Mackenzie said Thundersport GB couldn’t go wrong with the class, adding: "It needed direction and I’m pleased that it’s found its way to Thundersport GB, it’s a very good class to learn the grade." Mackenzie’s youngest son Tarran will be riding within Thundersport GB next season in the Aprilia Superteen class.
Ex-CB500 racer and current World Superbike star Leon Haslam and his dad, Ron, both agreed that Thundersport had taken on yet another gem of a class in their successful path so far.
"The class is an excellent starting point for any rider looking to race and because of the 500’s ground clearance, you have to ride it like a 125GP bike and sweep into the corners. It’s an ideal bike to learn on and really sets you up to move on to either 125GP bikes or four-stroke racing," said Leon.
With Thundersport GB currently at the NEC show on Stand 2K55, they have been busy processing licences and filling in forms for new riders entering the series for next year and every class is taking in stacks of grid numbers for the forthcoming season.
Thundersport GB will be at the NEC until Sunday 7th December, for more news, rules and regulations, visit www.thundersportgb.com.
