Former British Superbike star Leon Haslam has declared himself happy with his Stiggy Honda World Superbike setup after a two-day test at Cartegena in southern Spain.
The 25-year-old, who makes a return to WSB for 2009, spent the two days evaluating new engines devleoped by Oral and continued to get used to the Magneti Marelli electronics package.
"After these two days of testing my feelings are only positive. The team work extremely well together and the crew are just great. The atmosphere in the team is fantastic," said Haslam.
"This test was focused on finding out as much as possible about the engines as well as the electronics. I think we pulled that off pretty well because we improved the bike and our lap times after every pit stop.
"My bike already feels better than a lot the bikes I rode in the past. The engine feels strong and has a lot of potential for sure. I'm really looking forward to the next test and the 2009 season."
Team boss Johan Stigefelt added: "One of the main reasons for testing this weekend was for the riders and the team to understand and try our newly built Oral engines in combination with the Magneti Marelli electronic system.
"It was also important for the riders to get fully comfortable with their bikes, such as finding the right riding positions etc. I would like to say that I'm very pleased with our progress and development over these two days. The riders seem satisfied so far and both see great potential in the machinery, so that's great. We now have a better understanding of which direction to continue working on before the next test in Portugal and then the first race in March.
"Last, but not least, I just want to say a huge thanks to all our suppliers who really came together and helped us out getting everything ready in time for this test."
