Aragon WSBK: Camier upbeat despite 'duff tyre'

Alitalia Aprilia's Leon Camier left Motorland Aragon's World Superbike round this evening in an upbeat mood after his first-race podium showed he had the pace to catch leaders Max Biaggi and Marco Melandri and a bad rear tyre in race two did nothintg to shake his mood.

The lanky Kent youngster had been expecting another weekend like Misano where he struggles to make the RSV4 work in searing temperatures but after selecting a different tyre to his team-mate, Camier was able to stick it out for a third place. In race two, Camier was given a bad tyre by Pirelli and he had no grip from start to finish.

'All in all it's good to come away with positives from this weekend as I was expecting it to be like Misano. Very hot temperatures affect the way my bike works and I don't like the front moving around a lot but today in the first race it was good and I was able to catch Max and Melandri at the end," said Camier, speaking to bikesportnews.com this evening in a German accent.

"If I'd had a better run of results recently, I would have pushed harder to catch them but I haven't so I just kept it smooth and brought it home. I had a duff tyre in the second race and there's nothing any of us can do about that, it is what it is."
