Silverstone WSBK: Davies victorious in Supersport thriller

Parkingo Yamaha's Chaz Davies took victory in a thrilling World Supersport encounter at Silverstone this afternoon after a three-man dice for most of the race became a two-bike scrap for the win.

Welshman Davies was involved in a fight with David Salom and Fabien Foret for most of the 16-lapper but pulled a gap on the Motocard Kawasaki man in the final two laps to win by a little over a second.

As the laps clicked down, though, Gino Rea mounted an attack on Foret's Ten Kate Honda for the final podium place, briefly nabbing it but then crashing on the last lap. He crossed the line in 11th place, just behind James Ellison's Bogdanka Honda.

Sam Lowes crashed out of the race early when he ran into the back of Rea's Step Honda which jammed on the front brake, flipping him over the top. He re-mounted but was forced to retire.
