Eugene Laverty in talks with Tech3 for MotoGP 2012

Works Yamaha World Superbike race winner Eugene Laverty travelled to the Brno MotoGP round last weekend to begin talks with Tech3 Monster Yamaha team boss Herve Poncharal about a possible ride with the satellite team.

Laverty was left without a ride for next year when Yamaha Europe announced it would be pulling its factory team out of World Superbikes at the end of this year so the Irishman is now on the hunt for a job in 2012.

"I've known Herve for a long time so I went over there to have a chat with him about the possibilities for next year as I'm currently out of work. The whole Yamaha thing was a big shock and disappointing for me and all of the team, a lot of whom had been there a long time" said Laverty, speaking to bikesportnews.com this morning.

"Herve wasn't able to say anything as they are waiting for some other things to fall into place over the coming weeks. I had wanted to move to MotoGP after at least a season in WSB but it may come sooner rather than later if the opportunity is there I will take it."
