Thundersport's Robinson forced to hang up his leathers for 2011

Thundersport Superstock 600 front-runner Adam Robinson will be unable to contest the final rounds of the bikesportnews.com-support series after a big crash has left his Triumph 675 too badly damaged to continue and he hasn't the funds to purchase another.

Robinson, from Helmshore in Lancashire, was involved in a huge shunt during the Pembrey round and his bike was suffered such a serious structural beating it can't be put straight.

The distraught 17-year-old has shown great maturity in making the decision to focus all efforts into the next season as he now cannot catch the leader of this prestigious championship, which he initially led after three race wins, and will now concentrate on the Triumph Young Guns series next year which has legend Frankie Chili as it's mentor.

"I was thrilled to share the track with the ex-World Superbike rider, Pierfrancesco Chili, at Brands Hatch in July and have the opportunity to discuss his race lines and tips for how to improve further. It was one the best days of mylife," said Robinson.

'All my family have got their fingers crossed that I will continue to be successful in the Triumph Young Gun scheme and hope I can continue to the next stage, when at the end of September, the original 10 shortlisted riders will be cut to just three. These three lucky riders will get to showcase their talents in front of huge crowds at Brands Hatch during the October British Superbike meeting in the battle to become the ultimate Triumph Young Gun – which I am to be."
