Andrews joins McGuinness in Honda TT Legends roads squad

British Superbike star Simon Andrews will partner 17-time TT winner John McGuinness in the works Honda TT Legends squad at the Isle of Man and Northwest 200 in 2012.

Andrews, who has kept this deal secret for several weeks, is still recovering from the Snetterton crash last year which almost saw him lose his leg but a recent bone graft saw him able to move around unaided for the first time. He was 2011's quickest newcomer on the island with a 125mph fastest lap.

"I am genuinely excited about the year ahead. To be asked to join the Honda TT Legends team is a real honour and I can’t wait for the season to get started. I have done a couple of endurance races – one being the Le Mans 24-hour – so I do know what to expect but I’m sure the full championship will be a real challenge," said the Evesham man.

"I’m a rider that rides better with miles under my belt, so the endurance side of things will without doubt help with the road racing. To be riding alongside the legend that is John McGuinness at the Isle of Man TT is big business and I’m hoping he’ll have one or two pointers for me! There is no better person to learn from."

Andrews and McGuinness will be partnered by Cameron Donald and Gary Johnson for the World Endurance races. Aussie Donald will ride for Wilson Craig Honda on the roads and Johnson with Padgett's Honda.
