Phillip Island WSBK: 'I was cruising' says crocked Haslam

Crocked BMW star Leon Haslam only did two flying laps in today's first World Superbike qualifying session at Phillip Island but managed to put himself on the grid for Sunday's race after just 'cruising around'.

Haslam underwent surgery to screw bones back together in his right tibia just 24 hours ago. He promptly went out on his works S1000RR, lapped in 1'33.532 which was enough to qualify him in 21st place and he intends to race on Sunday as he believes points can be won.

"I only did two flying laps today to see how I felt on the bike. That was the objective, and we will now leave it until tomorrow. I did not want to do anything silly. Actually I was not pushing at all, but rather cruising around. If it is the case that I feel well enough and we believe we can be in the points then I would like to race," said the new dad.
