Parkingo Aprilia's Chaz Davies has suffered a broken left wrist after being spat over the highside of his RSV4 Factory going through the Southern Loop in today's second World Superbike qualifying session at Phillip Island and is now on his way to Melbourne Hospital.
Davies has been diagnosed with a left radius fracture. He is added to the list of riders that have been claimed by the Australian track this year which features Brits Leon Haslam and Eugene Laverty, Aussie Josh Brookes and Spaniard David Salom.
"I'm really sad about this incident but at the same time I can say to my fans and to my team that I was really finding the feeling with the bike. I've been supported by my team and by surgeons perfectly; I'm sure I'll be completely recovered for Imola," said the Welshman.
