Chaz Davies' boss Giuliano Rovelli has brushed off his rider's double DNF at Assen's World Superbike round, saying crashes are part of learning to ride a new bike at the top level.
Davies came a cropper in both legs in Holland but Rovelli was impressed with the Welshman's pace on the new Parkingo Aprilia RSV4 after he was able to mix it up with the likes of Jonathan Rea and Eugene Laverty in the early part of race two.
“The interesting side of the races is that Chaz managed to show he can fight with the 'big names' of the category already in only his second WSBK race. I am impressed by his aggressive riding style and surprised because I thought we weren't as competitive as he has shown. Both crashes are part of the learning curve of the class," said the Italian.
