TT 2012: World Endurance laps 'paying off' for Donald

Increased track time with the Honda Legends World Endurance squad seems to be paying off for Cameron Donald as he steered his Wilson Craig Honda to second place in the Dainese Superbike TT today, finishing behind winner John McGuinness.

The Australian rider pushed his WEC team-mate all the way in this afternoon's six-lap encounter with McGuinness only able to stretch out an advantage as the miles came down but Donald is happy with his podium place.

"It was a shame I couldn’t push John to the end but I’m very proud to have finished second. I got a great start and it was close early on but once John got a bit of a buffer on me, he was able to continually stretch his advantage. The last two laps weren't as good for me but I rode smart and safe and I’m very happy with how the bike went," said Donald.

"It was working really well and, in fact, I would have been happy to race it last Wednesday. I’ve learnt plenty and ridden a lot this season with all the World Endurance stuff and it’s paying off. The team have come a long way since last year and the crew did a great job in the pits so, after a really enjoyable practice week, it’s great to get a podium.”
