Seven riders posted their first ever 120mph laps in Saturday's Superbike race - Jimmy Storrar, Karl Harris, Jamie Hamilton (all newcomers), Grant Wagstaff, Daniel Hegarty, Shaun Anderson and former World Supersport podium finisher Alessio Corradi.

Dan Stewart was penalised 30 seconds not once but twice during the race. Having altered the gearing on the Wilcock Consulting Honda, the cancellation of Friday's final practice session meant he didn't get to test the bike and so ended up going over the pitlane speed limit at each pit stop. He slid down the order from ninth to 13th as a result.

Luis Carreira, Mark Parrett and Davy Morgan were just some of the other riders penalised for speed infringements whilst Kiwi Daniel Jansen became the first rider ever to be disqualified for breaking the pit lane speed limit.

Michael Rutter retired from the race with gearbox problems which are believed to have stemmed right from the very start when he left the line. The MSS Bathams Kawasaki man left the line without the bike in gear and when he stamped it into gear the damage was done.

Ryan Farquhar is also in gearbox difficulty having suffered broken parts in both his Superstock and Supersport machines. He now faces a race against time to get his bikes prepared for Monday's two races.

John Holden/Andy Winkle have blown three engines in the first week at the Island and have only managed to complete two laps, one of which was the controlled newcomer's lap on the very first day.

Jimmy Storrar was set to be the first newcomer home in the Superbike race before crashing on the final lap. The National Superstock rider was leading Karl Harris by 15 seconds going into the final lap and on course for a top 20 finish but he crashed out at Keppel Gate, just a few miles from home, fortunately without injury.
