Simon Andrews has been out of hospital for a matter of hours after his massive Superbike TT crash at Graham Memorial and despite having a broken ankle, wrist and shoulder, the Evesham man is already targeting a retiurn to racing at the Suzuka Eight-Hours.
Andrews fell at an estimated 140mph on lap one of Saturday's race and was lucky to escape with his life. He admits the accident was rider error as he exited the Verandah much faster than in previous laps and underestimated how fast he was travelling into the next set of corners. But getting back on the bike is now his sole purpose.
"It was rider error but now I have to look forward to Suzuka. I have to have a target to progress to. If I don't then I will not move on and slip backwards. I'm back in my motorhome now, my eyes are still full of blood but I can see and I'm here," said Andrews, speaking to bikesportnews.com this afternoon.
"I will stay here on the island and start my rehab. I'm due at the physiotherapist at half past six tonight and then I will go down to the hyperbaric chamber in the morning. It's onwards and upwards from now. I want to be fit for Suzuka and I have eight weeks to get there."
