Jerez signs up as final World Superbike round of 2013

Next year's World Superbike final round will be held at the Spanish track of Jerez de la Frontera, famed for its flying saucer and massively-enthusiastic chequered flag official.

Formerly the preserve of MotoGP, the circuit has a contract to host a round from next season through to 2015 after papers were signed today in the town's city hall, overseen by mayor María José García Pelayo.

"We are delighted with the addition of another prestigious name to our World Championship calendar. Jerez de la Frontera is a circuit that is synonymous with great motorbike racing in general and is situated in a catchment area with an extraordinary sporting tradition and cultural heritage. It gives us great pleasure to return to Jerez for the first time in over twenty years and we are sure that together we will work hard to make the event a great success," said WSBK boss Paolo Flammini.
