On his JDF-RRV450 Aprilia, 16-year-old Manxman Callan Cooper added a further two titles to give him a hat trick of titles at Mallory Park during the final round of the Thundersport series.

Having secured the Aprilia RRV450 Challenge at the previous round at Cadwell park Cooper went into the final round at Mallory Park with a fifty nine point lead in the Doodson Mini-twins class and a one point lead over Wigan rider Josh Daley in the overall 650 twin series.

Cooper rode with a cool head to win the opening race to deliver the Doodson Supertwin Championship on the Saturday. The overall series win had to wait until the Sunday to be decided

between Cooper and Daley.

In one of his best performances in the open 650 series Cooper lap by lap pulled Daley pulled in. By three quarter race distance Daley and Cooper had created a considerable gap between themselves and the rest of the field . Going in to the last lap Cooper was with Daley and made his move at the hairpin to take the victory from Daley by a very narrow margin.

Cooper said after the race: "We started the campaign by using the Supertwin championship races as practise only as this was my first year on the RRV we felt the riders who would be the front runners in some cases had time on the RRV in 2011 would maybe have an advantage we had to negate," he said.

"To end up winning this one was a bonus, with regard the final title of the open 650 this was not on the cards until after Cadwell as Josh had his name on this however he had a run of bad luck not to take it. He rode superbly all year and deserved it, but that’s racing."

Cooper is moving up to the Metzeler National Superstock class for 2013.
