Thundersport Donington to go ahead as planned

Thundersport's planned Donington Park round will go ahead as planned this weekend after series boss Dave Stewart conducted an inspection today.

However, the weekend's activities will utilise the National Circuit instead of the GP track to ease the burden on circuit staff. The series' second visit, in October, will now use the larger layout.

"Having conducted a site visit today, I am now confident that the circuit will be ready for both our event and the preceding Javelin Cars Track Day," said Stewart.

"In order to ease the burden on the circuit staff, both organisers have agreed to use the National Circuit configuration instead of the GP layout. The fact that the circuit is being used on Friday will assist us by putting some rubber on the racing line after the extensive snow clearance of the past week, thus scrubbing the surface in prior to our Saturday test day.

"The National Circuit is the preferred layout for us, which is why we had scheduled our Championship Finals in October on that layout. However, in order to maintain our ideal circuit spread of 9 different circuits for the championship, the October Finals will now switch to the GP Circuit layout.

"I'd like to congratulate Bob Adams and the entire Donington Park team on an excellent job in the face of some of the most unpleasant weather that has been thrown at us for many years."
