Aragon WSBK: Crocked Lowes bags provisional pole

Despite riding with a brace of broken fingers, Yakhnich Yamaha's Sam Lowes has taken provisional pole for Sunday's World Supersport encounter at Motorland Aragon by nearly half a second.

The Lincolnshire youngster was the only rider to go under the 2'02 barrier with his 2'01.930, some 0.463s quicker than Sheridan Morais on a 2'02.393. Lowes was never headed in the session after the initial flurries, going quickest after five minutes and then setting a succession of fast laps.

Pata Honda rookie Michael Van Der Mark was third and another tenth further behind Morias' PTR Honda with reigning champion Kenan Sofuoglu in fourth on a 2'02.577. Luca Scassa heads up row two just ahead of Kev Coghlan on the sister Kawasaki.

Jack Kennedy ended the session in 14th and two seconds off the pace with Christian Iddon down in 26th. The former Supermoto champion is staring a big top speed deficit on the MV and is one of the slowest through the speed trap.
