Yakhnich Yamaha's Sam Lowes secured World Supersport pole position in emphatic style, setting the fastest ever 600cc lap around Donington Park in the process of bagging his fourth pole of the year.

Lowes was unrivalled all session, improving and furthering his gap to the rest of the field with every lap, eventually finishing the session with a 1'30.276 second lap, just under half a second quicker than Kenan Sofuoglu in second.

The battle for the final front row spot was more closely contested, however, with Smiths Triumph's Glen Richards taking third on the grid in his wildcard race. The reigning British Supersport champion ended the session with a big crash however, coming together with another rider at Coppice.

Dubliner Jack Kennedy held on to the final spot on the front row for the majority of the session but with under three minutes remaining, the Rivamoto rider was shuffled back to sixth on the gird. Intermoto Kawasaki's Florian Marino and Pata Honda's Lorenzo Zanetti head the second row in fourth and fifth respectively.

ParkinGo MV's Christian Iddon jumped to seventh with under a minute remaining of the session, the Stockport rider's setup gamble paying off, as he will head the third row for tomorrow's race, 1.1 seconds adrift of Lowes' superlative time. Rounding out the third row is South African Sheridan Morais and Russian Vladimir Ivanov.

DMC-Lorenzini Kawasaki's Kev Coghlan will line up at the back of the fourth row in twelfth, after a late charge saw him shoot up the order. Fellow Smiths Triumph wildcard Billy McConnell has qualified fifteenth with his session ending with a crash at the infamous Craner Curves.
