MotoGP's leading riders have said they will be discussing the wall that runs alongside Mugello's start/finish straight in this evening's Safety Commission meeting after Marc Marquez nearly hit it at more than 170mph in free practice two.
The young Spaniard locked his front wheel under braking and his RC213V stepped sideways, giving him no option but to jump off the bike to avoid serious injury.
Both Valentino Rossi and Dani Pedrosa have said the wall has been subject of much discussion in the past but Mugello chief's have said that it cannot be moved.
"That point is dangerous especially as it is not a flat straight, it has a small jump. I understand where Marc lose the control and the wall is very, very close, too close. We try with the Safety Commission in the past to push the wall but Mugello say it is not possible," said Rossi
Pedrosa added: "We already spoke a few years ago about the wall in the safety Commission but they say they cannot change it or something like that. I saw the marks on the asphalt where he braked but I don't know why he crash."
Former world champion Nicky Hayden said: "That is not a good place to crash. Luckily, he is relatively ok. It is tight there. If three or four guys go down there you could touch pretty easy. It would be great if they could do something, that wall is close."
