TT 2013: 'I could have beaten my own record' - Brookes

Tyco Suzuki's Josh Brookes is confident he could have beaten the newcomer lap record of 127.726mph he set in Superbike TT had his GSX-R1000 not let him down in yesterday's Senior.

The British Superbike star only managed one lap before having to pull into the pits after a problem with worn wiring made it impossible to continue but had got himself up into 12th place on the leaderboard at Glen Helen before problems set in. Brookes was both happy he had made such a good start to his TT career but upset he didn't get to do another six laps.

"It would have been another six laps of learning in that race and I'm pretty confident I could have gone past my record but it wasn't to be. I'm happy that I have got to the end of my first TT and got some good results," said Brookes, speaking to bikesportnews.com late last night.

"It's a shame we couldn't continue yesterday but this place is so hard hard on the bikes."
