Silverstone WSBK: Iddon’s shock over Supersport front row

ParkinGO MV rider Christian Iddon will start the World Supersport race from the front row, his first in the series. The Stockport lad was so shocked by his time that he thought that his timer had broken, but is pleased with his best lap of 2’08.363.

“That was absolutely un-real I could not believe it I just thought my lap timer was broken. I have been quite good all weekend as we knew the bike would be good around here, but we have been working on a few things and it all came together during qualifying and half way through the last comer I caught up with someone up and was able to do another lap, and it was a great job,” said Iddon, speaking to bikesportnews.com at the circuit.

Iddon will be joined by fellow Brit Yakhnich Yamaha’s Sam Lowes who will start the race from pole. But with Iddon’s impressive lap he knocked Scottish rider DMC-Lorenzini’s Kev Coghlan off the third spot on the grid and the Perthshire lad has to contend with the second row. Iddon is confident that his grid position will help him get a good result tomorrow.

“All the Brits are up there, but tomorrow if we can stay top six and the end of the back straight that would be a good start. I will take it as it comes tomorrow and see if we can improve. We sorted out our biggest problem that we had this weekend which was rear grip, which was transformed in the final session and hopefully we can carry the good form into tomorrow.”
