WSBK bosses confirm Evo class for 2014

World Superbike bosses have this afternoon confirmed there will be an Evo sub-class in the 2014 championship, running European Superstock 1000 engine and electronic regulations.

And changes to the main championship rules will see a cap of eight engines per rider, limited numbers of gear ratios plus a cap on the cost of suspension and brakes.

The MSMA has also agreed to take measures to ensure a full grid of competitive bikes for the future and manufacturers will provide packages to buy at a fixed price, although what that price will be is not clear. Previously a cap of €300,000 dropping to €250,000 in 2015 had been mooted.

The motorcycle packages supplied will be the same as those used by the manufacturer and will receive certain updates and maintenance from the manufacturers during the season.

Evo packages will be able to run full World Superbike suspension and brake components but will be subject to the same price caps.
